Thinkings
Nice in Cliched black and white
20:01Being in the mountain, particularily in a time of sales has instilled the disease of consumerism into me.
I've been doing the man equivalent of shoe shopping: "ice axe- oooh look, its cheap, need that. New skis, well have a look, base layers? its good to be prepared! gloves, well you do need at least two good pairs. hmm thats a lot of stuff, better get a new off piste bag. etc etc etc etc.
i came back to Nice plagued by this mentality, just in time for new camera porn to come out. see below:
The Fujifilm x100S: Its beautiful, completely manual and handsomely flawed> i do not need it.
As i learnt in my first mountain bike competition last year, it is much more about how you ride(shoot) than what you ride (shoot).
Id wanted the x100 just to shoot street photography. to be honest with a fixed, prime lens, thats about all its good for. but i have a dope little retro camera, so i fitted a red filter, jammed it in black and white, set the aperture and focus(near infinity) and went to shoot.
In the name of increasing blog updates, here is my first go at shooting street photography in Nice.
I like what came out, but can see things to work on already. id appreciate if any photogs could be critical.
right, that was a super easy update, i have rather a lot of home work to catch up on. lucky youse!
